Hilton Head-SC The Judson Eagles secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Coastal Georgia in a tightly contested match held at Bluffton High School in Hilton Head, South Carolina. This crucial win adds momentum as the team looks ahead to their upcoming matchup against Marietta on March 12th and the remainder of their spring break trip.
The doubles matches set the stage for an exciting showdown. The No. 1 doubles team battled to a close 6-7 loss, but Judson bounced back with strong performances from their No. 2 and No. 3 teams. Nicolas Donoso and Cesar Otondo secured a 6:4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Brock Dawson and Florian Koppitsch claimed another 6:4 victory at No. 3 doubles, giving Judson the early advantage.
The singles matches proved to be a test of endurance and skill. At the No. 1 spot, Chadd Kerrigan fought hard but fell in straight sets, 4:6, 4:6. Nicolas Donoso delivered a clutch performance at No. 2, earning a 6:4, 7:6 victory. Josh Bavich faced a tough opponent at No. 3, falling in two sets. Javier Sanchez also encountered a challenging match at No. 4, coming up short at 2:6, 3:6.
Florian Koppitsch provided a critical win for Judson at No. 5, triumphing in a thrilling match, he got the victory in the third-set super tiebreak with a score of 10:4. Cesar Otondo Villafan sealed the overall match win at No. 6, battling through three sets to emerge victorious 6:4, 4:6, 10:6.
