Eagles Fall In Spring Break Opener
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Judson Eagles traveled to take on Francis Marion but ultimately fell short, suffering a 6-1 defeat.
Despite strong efforts across all three doubles courts, Judson was unable to secure the doubles point, giving Francis Marion an early advantage.
Heading into singles play with a 1-0 deficit, the Eagles battled hard but managed to claim just one victory. At the No. 4 singles position, Javier Sanchez delivered a gritty performance, securing Judson's lone win with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 victory. His resilience in the third set highlighted his determination, but Francis Marion controlled the remaining matches to seal the win.
Several other Eagles put up strong fights in singles play, pushing their opponents in long rallies and extended games. Despite their efforts, Francis Marion's depth proved too much as they clinched straight-set victories on multiple courts. The Judson players showed great fight and persistence, keeping many games competitive, but they were ultimately unable to swing the momentum in their favor.
With this result, Judson wraps up this leg of their road trip and now sets their sights on Hilton Head, S.C., where they will compete in five more matches. The Eagles are eager to regroup and sharpen their play as they prepare to face Washington & Jefferson in their next matchup on Monday. With several matches ahead, they remain focused on improving and bouncing back stronger.
