Elgin, IL - The Eagles concluded the regular season at home on Wednesday afternoon against St. Xavier. With a chance to clinch the regular season championship, Judson, on another blustery day, was able to control the tempo. Playing with the wind in the first half, Ju was able to control the pace, much like they have been able to do for the majority of the season.
With just under four minutes left in the half, the Eagles were able to break through with a goal from Erik Morales, his third of the season. On the play, he was assisted by co-captain Gabriel Trevisan.
JU took that 1-0 lead into halftime, and made it hold up in the second half. In the final 12 minutes, St. Xavier made several rallies in an effort to tie the game, but the Eagle defense was able to turn away the scoring chances. The defense led by Ruben Ledesma, Matheus Duarte Torres, and Ivan Dominguez in goal once again allowed zero goals.
The Eagles conclude the regular season 10-3-5 overall, and 7-0-3 in CCAC play. Of their 18 matches, they shutout their opponent in 10 of the games. In CCAC play alone, they only allowed three total goals in ten contests.
Judson is now in the clubhouse as they will await the result of the Governors State final two matches. Anything short of two Governor State wins, will result in the Eagles winning the conference regular season championship.
The Eagles are guaranteed a top 2 finish which means they will host at least one playoff game. That game will take place on Thursday November 7th.
Stay tuned for final results and seeding as the conference regular season wraps up this week.
