Elgin, IL - In a late afternoon contest, the Eagles, looking to build off of their first win of the season played host to the Mount Mercy Mustangs.
In two games thus far, the Mustangs had not allowed a goal, winning 8-0, and 9-0 respectively, so this match figured to be a test for Judson.
The Eagles started fast with a goal in the 9th minute by Lennyn Soriano. The quick goal was his second on the season.
About 15 minutes later, Mount Mercy was able to tie things up. However, just three minutes later, the Eagles took the lead right back. Co-captain Gabriel Uno was able to find the net with his second goal of the season. Uno was set up by an assist from Matheus Duarte Torres. With the goal, the Eagles were able to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
The second half was an even stalemate as both teams showed solid defensive throughout.
In the final 10 minutes of the contest, things strted to pick up. Mount Mercy was able to tie the game at two, thank to a 2 on 1 attack. But in a game that saw its' fair share of chippiness with 33 combined fouls, it was the final foul of the game that played a big part in the decision.
With just 8 seconds left in the game, Matheus Duarte Torres was fouled inside of the box, which set off a crucial penalty kick. The senior was able to make it count as the goal proved to be the game winner with just eight seconds left in the game.
