CCAC Quarterfinal Matchups Announced

Elgin, IL - It is playoff time for Men's and Women's Soccer as this weekend begins the CCAC Conference quarterfinals.

On the women's side, the Eagles finished 6-6-4, and 5-3-3 in conference play. They will be the #6 seed and travel to Olivet Nazarene for a Friday afternoon contest at 4pm.

In their regular season meeting, JU also traveled to Olivet, scored first with a goal from Maria Artaloita, and came away with a 1-1 tie on a wet and muddy Saturday night.

With a victory, the Eagles would face the winner of the Trinity Christian vs Viterbo matchup on Tuesday, November 7th.

Judson has been playing well down the stretch, closing with a 3-0-2 record in their final five games. Those three wins all came via a shutout.

Look for freshman goalie Eva Fernandez to have a big day in net should the Eagles come away victorious. The Eagles have been a senior led team all season long with their back line of defense playing tough with Ashley Portell, Mariana Espinoza, and captain Stephanie Naskrent.

On offense, JU will be coming off of a 50 shot effort in their regular season finale. Senior Josett Perez leads the team in goals with 9 and total points with 21. Look for Daisy Garcia to also be active with shots on goal in the contest.

For the men's squad, they finished the campaign 7-8-2, and 5-5-1 in coference good for the #7 seed in a bunched grouping of teams. The Eagles will travel to Governors State on Saturday afternoon for their matchup. In their regular season meeting, it was Gov State walking out of Dawson with a 2-0 victory. Look for the Eagles to return the favor this time around.

The Eagles closed 2-2-1 in their final five games, and arguably their most impressive win came just before that with a 1-0 victory over a NAIA ranked Columbia (MO) team.

On offense, all things run through the captain, Gabriel Trevisan as he leads the team in goals with 9 and points with 21.

Look for Samuel Chavez and Martin Wainstein to be active leaders on the attack as well.

Should the men win, they will face the winner of the Roosevelt and St. Francis winner on Wednesday November 8th for the semifinal round.

This contest figures to be a tight matchup throughout, and one goal may very well be the difference.
