Crystal Lake, Ill. The Judson University Men's Soccer Team opened the 2022-23 Judson University athletic calendar with a 2-2 draw with Cleary on Friday.
The game remained level at 0 at halftime despite Judson recording numerous high-octane chances. In the opening half, Judson outshot Cleary 8-1 and showed their dominance in play. In the second half, Cleary scored the game's first tally in the 63rd minute. Judson answered with consecutive goals spanning five minutes in game time to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
Rafael Rocha scored the Eagles' first tally in the 69th minute as Rafael Rocha scored off a pass from Inigo Capellan to level the score. Capellan scored his first Judson goal in the 74th minute when Wilondja Emena made a terrific pass across the 18-yard box to set up the freshman to give Judson a brief 2-1 lead. Cleary scored with 90 seconds to play to give the match its final score.
Rocha led Judson with four shots total, three of which were on net. Capellan also had four shots, one of which was on net. Alan Martinez made three saves on five shots in the contest.
Judson (0-0-1) faces Taylor next Saturday in Upland, Indiana.
