Brighton Young Wins NCCAA Regional as Both Eagles Teams Host Multi-Day Event
Algonquin, Ill. The Judson University hosted the NCCAA Regionals this week and freshman Brighton Young convincingly won the NCCAA Regional Championship by five strokes shooting a 7-over 149 in the two-day tournament. She earns an individual NCCAA Nationals berth with the victory, adding on to the lineage of numerous golfers qualifying for the event. Young was one stroke behind the leader heading into day two, but followed up her opening day 74 with a 75, which was tied for the day's lead.
Grace Haakenson was tied for sixth overall with a 160 (78-82). Lauren Semerau finished with a 188 (96-92) to finish 26th. Lynsie Pietrzak (193, 96-97) and Izzabella Cleaveland (201, 104-97) rounded out Judson's scoring on the women's side.
For the men, Blake Foster finished tied for sixth with a 158 (76-82). RJ McCoy had a 162 (80-82) to finish tied for 9th. Patrick Owens shot a 164 (84-80) to finish tied for 15th, while Ethan Suits shot a 169 (80-89) to finish tied for 18th.
As teams, Judson's men finished fifth with a 653, while the women finished fifth with a 690 total score. Judson's women return to action on September 21 at Benedictine's invite, while Judson's men's squad will participate in the Elmhurst invite on the 23rd.
