Eagles Come Away With Top 10 Finish At Boilermaker
Lafayette, IN - This past weekend the Judson Eagles had another strong showing as we competed at the Boilermaker Classic and Boilermaker Team Baker Shootout in Lafayette, IN.
On the Men's Varsity side we were able to come away with a top 10 finish on Saturday. Led by Junior Eric Roberts who averaged 206.4 for the tournament. Phil Heuser was 100% on single pins and averaged 190 for the day. Senior Cameron Jablonski came in off the bench after a slow start to average 194, Senior James Kontos averaged 196.
Senior Sebastian Beth was 100% on single pins, Grad Student Jason Claus was 90% on single pins and 85% on Multipins. On Sunday the team had a much better day finishing 4th overall and another top 5 finish of the year! The team had a superb single pin percentage on the day of 94% and multi pin percentage of 70%.
The following players were 100% on single pins – Phil Heuser, Jason Claus, and Seb Beth for a total of 22 of 22 on the day! Jason Claus also struck 64% and overall fill percentage of 96% on Sunday. Senior Seb Beth and Junior Eric Roberts also had a superb overall fill percentage of 88% on the day.
On the Men's JV1 side the team took home a 2nd place finish on Saturday! This team made Judson history becoming the first JV team to beat the entire varsity field! With a massive game 5 of 1139 the team held firm in 2nd place!
Led by standout freshman Woodley Dangerfield who was the tournament MVP and had games of 195, 225, 235, 263, and 278 for an astounding 239.2 average. This included the first 9 strikes in a row in game 5! This is one of the best performances in Judson History! Another fantastic breakout performance was Aiden Schwichow this freshman standout put together games of 182, 244, 290 which including the last 11 strikes in a row, 190, and 235 for an average of 228.2 for a 3rd place finish and 1st All-Tournament team of his Judson career!
Junior Parker Morris came off the bench in game 5 with a big 249 game and a 213.5 average on the day! Sophomore Caleb Vergona also had a breakout performance on Saturday with games of 229, 208, 181, 220, and 198 for a 207 average! Caleb was also 93% on single pins, and 83% on multipins on the day. Freshman Standout Noah Moreno was 100% on multipins on the day going 10 for 10 and averaging 178, and Freshman Toby Wamsley averaged 173 on the day and was 80% on multipins!
This team's chemistry was electric all weekend which bodes well for the future as this team had 4 freshmen, a sophomore and a Junior on the roster. In Sunday's event the team came away with a 3rd place finish. Many solid performances including 100% single pins for Woodley Dangerfield and Aiden Schwichow for totals of 23 for 23!!
Other contributors were Parker Morris 71% multipin, Noah Moreno 73% overall fill percentage, Caleb Vergona 80% overall fill percentage, and Toby Wamsley 85% on single pins!
On the Men's JV2 side the team took home an 8th place finish on Saturday! Led by Freshman standout Matthew Camacho who averaged 187.8 on the day. Junior Connor Richmond averaged 172 for the day. Junior Adan Cabezudo averaged 160, Senior Matthew Sipes averaged 168, and Senior Anthony Gutierrez averaged 166. On Sunday the team finished with a 6th place finish! Much better overall performances on day 2 from Adan Cabezudo who was 89% on single pins.
Matt Camacho was 91% on single pins and struck 40% of the time. Anthony Gutierrez was 87% on single pins and 76% on multipins. Connor Richmond was 90% on single pins, and Matt Sipes was 89% on single pins. This team put together a high baker game of 247 as well!
Next up is the Leatherneck Classic in Rockford, IL where again all 5 teams will compete the weekend of November 9-10!
