Eagles Fall Short Of Near Upset On Senior Day
Elgin, IL - On Saturday afternoon, the Eagles took on the number 1 seeded St. Francis Fighting Saints in their second to last home game of the season. On this day, it was also senior day for three Eagles; Cee Jay Nwosu, Trey Spires, and Kaevon Anderson.
The Eagles got off to a great start, scoring the games first eight points. Very strong early defense, and a hot Kaevon Anderson propelled Judson to a halftime lead of 38-35 over the CCAC conference's best team. Anderson arguably had one of his best games as an Eagle on his senior day scoring 27 points. He was 12-16 from the floor, and 2-2 from the 3-point arc along with five rebounds.
Fellow senior, Trey Spires had seven assists in the game, while team captain Cee Jay Nwosu had eight points and three rebounds.
Looking to pull off the big upset, Judson was up seven points with 13 minutes to go, and even up five points with six minutes to go in regulation before the Saints made their move. A cold stream at the wrong time by the Eagles, and a couple of key three point baskets were enough to propel USF to the winner's circle on this day 86-75.
George Bellevue was the only other Eagle in double figures scoring 15 points.
Judson now has just two games remaining on the season as they conclude next week at Viterbo, and home against Indiana South Bend.
