Eagles Transition Defense Propels Victory
Elgin, IL - Class may be out, but the Eagles were able to put on a clinic Wednesday night with their transition defense. JU hosted the Kuyper Cougars in a mid week tip, and in a competitive battle the Eagles were able to put together two quality halves that led to a 94-79 victory. With the win, Judson now stands at 3-7 on the season.
The difference in the game may have been the Eagles ability to turn defense into quick offense. JU had active hands on the defensive side constantly poking the ball away from Kuyper, and capitalizing on loose ball turnovers. In all, JU forced 14 turnovers, and it seemingly felt like they were able to convert everyone of those turnovers into points.
Judson also found some sparks from three point range in the form of Sam Ellis and Bronson Bartuch. While the two will not be confused for one another anytime soon, they were both identical from long range going 3-5 from downtown. Ellis finished with 13 points, and added six rebounds. Bartuch finished with 11 points, and five assists.
Dorian Little also added 14 points off of the bench shooting 7-8 from the floor.
But all scores were led by one of the Eagle captains Cee Jay Nwosu. The slick moving senior had 20 points with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals.
JU really was able to move the ball around compiling 28 assists on the night. The Eagles led by as many as 28 points, and really maintained a good flow throughout the night.
The Eagles will look to continue this momentum on Saturday afternoon when they get back into conference play hosting St. Ambrose.
