Senior Backcourt Earns Post Season Honors
Elgin, IL - All season long the Eagles' Men's Basketball Team was led by a veteran group. They had a consistent presence game in, and game out. JU in fact closed the year sending out the same starting line up over the last 14 games to really build that solid production.
That senior leadership was recognized this week as the senior duo of Javaris Wiggins and Anterrious Rhyan were named to the CCAC Conference awards list.
Javaris Wiggins was named to the Second Team All-Conference. He finished 4th in points scored (537), and 4th in points per game (18.6). Some other accolades finishing 16th in field goal percentage, 20th in assists, and 20th in minutes played.
In addition, Wiggins was also named as a member of the NCCAA First Team North Central All-Region Team. Wiggins posted four games over 25 points scored, with the high mark being 28 at St. Xavier.
His backcourt mate, Anterrious Rhyan was named to the CCAC All-Conference Honorable Mention list. Rhyan was an all-around contributor for the Eagles, scoring, facilitating, and having active hands on defense.
He shot over 48% from the field, and was 7th in the conference in total points with 335 points. Rhyan was 24th in minutes played, and from a guard position finished 18th in total rebounds.
Rhyan netted over 20 points in two games this year, but another impressive stat line was his 17 rebounds pulled down against Holy Cross.
Wiggins and Rhyan have been key members of the Eagles over the last two years, and their efforts will be missed.
Congratulations to both on their achievements.
