Eagles Post Dominant Victory
Elgin, IL - The Nest was rocking on Wednesday night. A strong start out of the gates paced the Eagles to an impressive victory on Wednesday night.
The Eagles came out on fire making shots from all over the court. JU shot a stellar 56% from the field in the first half including 5-9 from 3-point range leading to a 45-22 halftime lead. The Eagles coasted to a dominate victory 86-59 over St. Xavier.
Judson had dominating defense all night long. They held the Cougars to 59 points on 36% shooting. SAX was cold from long range shooting 4-24 on the night.
In the first half, Gavin Alston was hot with 16 points, while Javaris Wiggins was close behind with 15 points of his own. Both finished with 20 points overall. Finn Walsh also was active on both sides of the court with eight points, four rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Cee Jay Nwosu nearly had a double-double with 10 points and 8 rebounds. It was a great night throughout the lineup for JU.
With the victory, the Eagles are 8-11 overall, and 5-6 in a closely bunched CCAC. The win over the Cougars of St. Xavier is a quality win over one of the current top four teams.
The win also snaps a seven game skid against the Cougars and is the largest margin of victory in the series history for the Eagles.
"This was a fun one", says a beaming Head Coach Bruce Fields. "We are capable of that every night, but it was impressive to watch. The place was loud, fans into it, it was fun."
Flying high, Judson will travel to #22 ranked Olivet Nazarene on Saturday to continue CCAC play. A victory on Saturday would make major noise around the conference that the Eagles are coming.
It will also be a bit of a homecoming for Grad Transfer Barik Olden who is a former Tiger.
