Eagles Fall On Senior Day Despite Alexander's Big Day
Streamwood, IL - The Eagles hosted their final home football game of the 2024 season, and along with that came Senior Day for the 2024-2025 class. In pre-game festivities, seven players took their walk through the gauntlet. Those players include: A Business Administration major; Trey Keeler. A Business Management major; Jayson Haywood. An MBA Masters of Business Administration graduate; Trenton Perry. A 4-year member, and sports management major; Desmond Hill Thomas. A 4-year member, and sports management major; DominQue Carter. A 4-year member, and business management major; Jaylin Ware. And an All-Conference selection a season ago, architecture major; Jay Callentine.
As for the game on the field. JU hung with Olivet Nazarene through the opening quarter. But, a sloppy second quarter made the score lopsided at halftime. One of the Tigers four first half scores was a 32 yard scoop and score by the ONU defense. It was one of three turnovers that Nazarene forced on the day.
For Judson, Jake Parker did not "start" the game, but he did play the majority of the snaps throwing 21-44 for 327 yards and two touchdown passes. One of those scoring strikes was a 75-yard connection to wideout Grant Alexander Jr.
The JU attack was virtually one dimension as they were only able to muster 17 carries for negative yardage on the ground.
Once again, a bright spot was the Chicago, Illinois product, Grant Alexander Jr. He dazzled once again posting a 10 catch, 233 yard, and one score day. It is his sixth game this season going over 100 yards receiving to go along with 10 touchdowns. Avant Rowe, and the Trenton Perry also found the endzone with scores. Rowe's catch was a nifty one-handed snag in the corner of the end zone.
For Alexander, his 233 yard day sets a new program record for most yards receiving in a single game. His 10 touchdowns are also a program record, and with two games left, will look to set a few more benchmarks.
With the Eagles' home schedule completed, they now have two final games remaining. At Marian, in Indianapolis, and at St. Xavier to close out 2024.
