Solid Offensive Showing Falls Short Against Trojans
Upland, IN - Coming off of a week 1 victory, the Judson Eagles were looking to make it two straight to start the 2024 season. In a game that was originally scheduled as a home game, was moved to Taylor due to scheduling complications. While the Eagles put up a goof fight, JU fell to the Taylor Trojans 52-29 dropping the Eagles to 1-1 on the season.
After a slow start, the Eagles were able to put together two solid drives that found the end-zone. The first score was a 36 yard touchdown pass from Jake Parker to Trenton Perry for 36 yards. Midway through the quarter, an 8-yard scamper from Frank Adou got the Eagles back on the scoreboard.
However, during the second quarter, JU was unable to come up with a crucial stop, and went into the locker room trailing.
Taylor's running attack was giving Judson fits all night long as the Trojans ran for 376 yards in the game.
Quarterback Jake Parker had another good night as he threw 16-33 for 289 yards and three more scores. Parker also ran that ball for 51 yards,
Another big night was had by JU's Grant Alexander Jr. as he hauled in six catches for 157 yards and two scores. Alexander's scores came from long range of 65 yards and 41 yards.
Judson's offense at times was really able to move the ball well down the field. It was a nice combination of long drives moving the chains, and some quick strikes for some big gaines.
In the game, JU had 22 first downs, 420 yards of total offense, and ran 66 plays. It was also a clean effort with just one turnover and five accepted penalties which is down from their week one contest.
Frank Adou put together a nice effort with 14 carries, 57 yards, and a score. Seven Eagles cought a pass in the game as Parker certainly spreaded the wealth this week.
Tanner Tipton remained perfect on extra point tries, and Nick Curry led the defense with eight tackles and an interception.
Taylor's ground attack proved to be the difference, as Judson was not quite able to come up with multiple stops in the game.
The Eagles will travel to Defiance College next Saturday afternoon as the Eagles will look to continue a strong offensive attack.
