Mackey Named to MSFA First Team; Two Named to Second Team; Three Named Honorable Mention
Palos Heights, IL The Judson University Football Team has six players recognized by the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) as all-conference performers.
Making the first team was Brandon Mackey. He finished the season with 1295 rushing yards (tied for third in the nation) and 143.9 rushing yards per game, which is also third in the nation. His 13 rushing scores is also a top-10 in the nation. His final week of the season capped off his performance as he compiled a career-best weekend of 288 yards rushing and 328 yards of total offense. In addition, he scored four touchdowns as he averaged 7.6 yards per carry. At one point in the third quarter, Mackey scored two 60+ yard touchdown runs in fewer than two minutes of game action.
One of the two second team members was O'Vauntay Vickers. He led the team in recieving with 690 yards on 64 receptions and scoring five times. Vickers is the first Eagle to make the MSFA Midwest team twice as he was a first team member in 2021 when he had 1103 yards on 79 receptions and seven touchdowns.
The other second team member was Derek DeVries. The sophomore made an impact starting on the offensive line as he helped the Eagles ground game as the Eagles were a top-50 rushing offense in the NAIA and Judson's ground game was among the top in the MSFA Midwest as well.
Judson had three honorable mention recipients as well. Defensive Lineman Clifton Jimerson had 18 tackles for Judson including five sacks, 8.5 tackles for a loss, and a breakup. Defensive Back Mitrez Rawls made 39 total tackles, including two tackles for a loss. He had two breakups and a 68-yard interception return for a touchdown on the season. Offensive Lineman Tyler Silverstrand was also recognized for his efforts in helping the Eagles' offensive continue to produce program records on a weekly basis.
