Mackey Earns Third MSFA Offensive Player of the Week Award With Incredible Performance Against TIU
Palos Heights, Ill. For the third time this season, Brandon Mackey has earned the MSFA offensive player of the week award.
Mackey's award comes following a career-best weekend of 288 yards rushing and 328 yards of total offense. In addition, he scored four touchdowns as he averaged 7.6 yards per carry. At one point in the third quarter, Mackey scored two 60+ yard touchdown runs in fewer than two minutes of game action.
"This is another well-deserved award for BMack," said Head Coach Dan Paplaczyk. "He has been consistently great all season for us, and this is just the capstone to his great season. He touched the ball more than 80 times over the last two weeks. Yet he seemed to be unaffected by it and finished with his strongest game of the year. As this tough season ends, it is great to know that we have guys like BMack that we can continue to build around going into next season."
Mackey finishes the season with 1295 rushing yards (tied for third in the nation) and 143.9 rushing yards per game, which is also third in the nation. His 13 rushing scores is also a top-10 in the nation. Mackey's effort will undoubtedly be recognized by the MSFA, the CCAC, and the NAIA in their postseason honors.
