Erickson Becomes First NCCAA Football Scholar Athlete in School History
Greenville, SC Judson University's Ryan Erickson was named as the first-ever NCCAA Scholar-Athlete in program history. The Denver, Colorado offensive lineman is a Health Promotion & Performance Major and will be graduating early.
In order to qualify for an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete award, one must hold a 3.4 GPA, be of an upperclassman status, and have been at the University for at least two prior semesters.
Head Coach Dan Paplaczyk said the following about Ryan on Senior Day.
"Ryan was one of the first players that was signed for our Fall 2020 class. He immediately came in and had an impact on our team in a positive way. Not only was he one of the smartest players on our team, but he was definitely the biggest one at the time as well," said Paplaczyk. "Ryan has fought his way through injuries during his time here, but he never took plays or practices off unless he absolutely had to. He wasn't a vocal leader on our team, but he was one of the hardest workers. He showed up consistently in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the football field with a tireless effort and drive. Ryan set the tone for our program this year by having a big game against Taylor and has continued to lead by his great example."
The Judson University Athletic Department congratulates Ryan on this outstanding honor.
