Hudson Deals Win To Advance Eagles
Kansas City, MO - After scoring a bunch of runs, but falling in a wild one 15-13, the Eagles found themselves in the loser's bracket of the 10-team NCCAA World Series. Needing to grind and fight their way back into things, JU was matched up against Campbellsville KY.
Through the first 4 innings, the Eagles found themselves trailing 1-0, and after 5 innings down 2-1.
But in the 6th inning, the Judson bats put a jolt into the scoreboard. A much needed four spot put JU ahead. The key hit was a bases clearing double by Ryan Pitzer. Pitzer was credited with 2 RBI's, and the other run scoring on an error. Austin Stone then capped the inning with a sacrifice fly bringing home Pitzer.
In the 7th inning, the Eagles bats really broke things open as they poured on seven more runs. The big hit was a Hudson Deal three run homerun to give the Eagles that breathing room. It was Deal's 12th home run of the season.
Allan Navarro then added an RBI single, and Blake Stempowski added in a two run single. In what was a close ball game early on, became a 12-2 victory for Judson.
On the mound, Alijah Acevedo was strong weathering the early deficit. He went all seven innings allowing two runs on seven hits, with no walks. He struck out six batters in the win for his 5th win on the season.
The Eagles pounded out 16 total hits in the win, with Daley Thompson having three of them.
Judson now advances in the tournament to take on Concordia MI in the double-elimination bracket tournament.
