Eagles Earn Win In Finale With Saints
Joliet, IL - In a well played, competitive series with the St. Francis Saints, the Eagles were able to claim the win in the finale on Friday afternoon 6-4.
On Thursday night, the Eagles dropped a pair of games to the Saints at home 9-6, and 4-2. Game two was an extra inning affair that saw the Saints win in 11 innings. In that game, Alijah Acevedo certainly did his part pitching nine innings of two run ball, and striking out five batters.
Both games at Hoffer Field saw some really good defensive plays made by both teams.
On Friday, JU fell in game one 4-0 before mustering up the win in game two. Adrian Nery was strong on the mound for the Eagles picking up his 4th win of the season. The right-hander is 4-0 on the season. Max Amendt came on in the ninth inning to earn his second save of the season.
In game two, Kyle Schwartz was the lone Eagle to record multiple hits in the well pitched contest.
The go-ahead runs came in the top of the 9th inning on an error as Bryce Rosenow, and Acevedo came into score on a sharply hit ball by Hudson Deal.
Deal came into the week leading the conference in home runs hit as he continues to swing a hot bat for JU.
Judson has the weekend off, and while they momentarily fell from the top spot in the conference standings, they still maintain a firm grasp on a top four spot in the standings with games in hand compared to the teams around them. Judson is currently one of four teams over .500 in the CCAC.
The Eagles will play host to St. Xavier on Tuesday to complete their four games with the Cougars.
Deal leads the conference in home runs with 9, and second in RBI's with 42.
Nate Stempowski leads the team in batting average, and also ranked in the top five of the conference with a .386 average. His brother Blake Stempowski is just behind him with a .375 average.
