Eagles Earn First Career Win For Head Coach Ruechel
Batavia, OH - The Eagles completed their second series of the season this weekend against UC Clermont. After a couple of tough losses, JU was able to rebound to claim the finale 3-2. With the win, it is their first on the young season, and it also marks career win number one for Head Coach Evan Ruechel.
The winning pitcher, (on his birthday) was Brady Popovich. He went all 7 innings to get the victory scattering just five hits, walked none, struck out two, and allowed only 2 unearned runs. Popovich was very efficient on the mound.
In addition, Popovich added two hits at the plate, an RBI, two stolen bases, and scored what would be the winning run on a bases loaded walk to Christian Martinez.
Timothy Ellinger also added two hits. Alberto Mireles added a stolen base.
The Eagles will now prepare for a weekend tri-series in Iowa involving William Penn and Midland.
