Elgin, Ill. The Judson University Eagles earned a weekend split with St. Xavier following a 9-6 win and a 12-2 loss on Saturday. The Eagles honored 16 seniors who have made an impact on the Judson University Baseball Team.
Judson scored the game's first five runs in Saturday's opener as Alex Spang had a bases-loaded walk, and Benjamin Nelson had a two-run single. Nelson and Mitchell Stempowski each scored on wild pitches. Nelson later had a two-run double, while Jordan Babcock had a sacrifice fly, and Timothy Ellinger scored on a wild pitch. Judson scored nine runs on only six hits. Davila and Nelson each had two, while Ellinger and Stempowski had the others. Brandon Callender earned the win as he pitched five shutout innings, only allowing two hits, two walks, and two strikeouts in the contest.
In game two, Judson's lone runs came on a two-run single by Diego Munoz. Munoz led all Judson batters with six hits. Alec MacLennan, Adam Zeratsky, Alec Spang, and Timothy Ellinger each had base knocks for Judson. Taylor Abercrombie threw three innings for Judson, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits while walking four and striking out one. Jason Klemm threw two scoreless innings for Judson.
The Eagles (8-24, 5-14 CCAC) face St. Ambrose next Friday at 4:00 p.m. for a single game in Elgin.
