Judson Begins Season Series With Roosevelt with 7-6 Extra-Inning Loss
Elgin, IL The Judson University Baseball Team began today what they believed to be a doubleheader against Roosevelt. However, following a 7-6 extra-inning loss and playing four innings of game two, the second game was suspended in the bottom of the fourth with Judson batting down 8-6.
In the opener, Judson overcame a 6-0 deficit with a rally in the final four innings of regulation. Jordan Babcock hit an RBI double to left. Timothy Ellinger scored on a wild pitch. Mitchell Stempowski recorded a bases-loaded walk, and then Alec Spang had a pair of RBI singles in the fifth and seventh innings. Judson had an opportunity to walk it off in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but they were not able to do so.
Ellinger and Spang led Judson with two hits apiece, while Babcock and Stempowski had the other two hits for Judson. Jason Klemm pitched four scoreless innings of relief, allowing three hits while striking out a pair and walking only one. Zach Rojas allowed only one earned run in 2.2 innings of work but suffered the loss since the run was the go-ahead run.
Judson trailed 8-6 in game two prior to the suspended contest.
Judson faces St. Xavier on Friday in Chicago.
