Elgin, IL The Judson Eagles Baseball Team earned a series-opening conference win on Friday as the Eagles took down St. Francis (IL) by the score of 3-2 on Friday.
The Eagles scored first with two runs in the second inning. Jordan Babcock hit a long home run to right center followed by a Benjamin Nelson sacrifice fly that scored Adam Zeratsky. St. Francis scored single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings. In the ninth inning, Nelson walked and was moved to third on a Giovanni Davila single. Timothy Ellinger walked, which set the stage for Nelson to score on a pitch in the dirt on the first pitch Alec Spang saw. Zeratsky and Babock led Judson with two hits apiece. Josh Golibrzuch, Alec MacLennan, Ellinger, Spang, and Davila had the other hits for Judson.
Brandon Callender pitched a quality start as he allowed only one earned run (two total) on five hits while striking six and walking none in six innings of work. Zach Rojas (3-1) pitched three scoreless innings in relief only allowing one hit and one walk.
