Elgin & Palos Heights, Ill. The Judson University Eagles Were Swept by Trinity Christian in a three-game, two-day series, with the first contest taking place at Hoffer Field Thursday while the latter two were at Trinity Christian on Friday.
In the opener, Judson fell 13-0 in a seven-inning affair. Timothy Ellinger, Mitchell Stempowski, Giovanni Davila, and Benjamin Nelson each had hits for Judson. Jake Angelo (0-1) as the starter allowed four earned runs on three hits in 0.2 innings.
In Friday's first game, Judson lost 6-5 in a seven-inning contest. Judson trailed 2-0 heading to the fourth inning when the Eagles were able to tie the contest on an RBI single from Ellinger and Adam Zeratsky scoring on a balk. In the sixth, Judson scored three times with an Alec Spang RBI walk and a Jordan Babcock two-run single. Trinity Christian answered with a four-run bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good. Taylor Abercrombie got the start and allowed four earned runs on five hits, while walking four and striking out two in 5.0 innings of work. Jason Klemm (0-1) allowed two earned runs on four hits in relief.
Judson lost 3-2 in Friday's finale. The Eagles scored both of their runs in the first inning as Nelson stole third and scored on a throwing error. Then, Zeratsky knocked in Ellinger on a single. Trinity Christian scored once in the first and then twice in the eighth to take game three. Brandon Callender pitched very well as he allowed one earned run on five hits while striking out six and walking five in seven innings of work.
Judson (6-15, 3-5 CCAC) travels to South Bend to take on IUSB on Tuesday beginning at 3:00 p.m. Central Time.
