Eagles Earn First Win of the Season in Doubleheader Split at Ft. Lauderdale

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The Judson University Baseball Team earned a doubleheader split against NCCAA foe Ft. Lauderdale as the Eagles took game one 14-11 and fell in game two 10-3.
In the opener, Judson scored runs in bunches as the Eagles put up five spots in the second and fourth innings while adding a single tally in the third and a much-needed three runs in the sixth to pull away. Benjamin Nelson go the scoring going in the second inning with a sacrifice fly. Jordan Babcock and Adam Zeratsky followed with RBI doubles, and Giovanni Davila plated Zeratski on a single to cap the second-inning rally. MacLennan homered in the third inning to give Judson a 6-4 advantage. After the home team tied the game in the bottom of the third, Judson exploded for five more as Zeratsky hit a two-run bomb and Jake Angelo hit a three-run shot to give Judson a five-run cushion. Davila hit the go-ahead shot in the top of the sixth, and Angelo followed suit with his second home run of the game, a two-run shot. Zach Rojas got the win in relief by allowing only one hit in 1.2 innings of relief and striking out one. Matt Johnston pitched a perfect seventh, including a strikeout, to earn his first save of the year.
In game two, Judson scored three times in the third inning. Zeratsky began the scoring with an RBI single, while Mitchell Stempowski had a two-run double to plate Davila and Zeratsky. Austin McNamara got the start for Judson as he struck out five, while giving up eight earned in 2.2 innings of work. Carter Kotwica and Taylor Abercrombie combined for 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. Babcock, Zeratsky, and Davila had the hits for Judson in the contest.
Judson (1-7) enjoys the weekend off prior to playing Grand View on Monday.
