JENNIFER (GENTRY) SALAZAR
Jennifer (Gentry) Salazar had the best of both worlds at Judson as a player and a coach. Playing two years and coaching six years, she left her name in the record book for both careers. The two-time letterman was the team MVP both seasons for her team and a two-time NCCAA All-Region selection. In her freshman season, she was named the NAIA District Rookie of the Year and voted to the NIIC All-Conference team. She also led her team in kills (346), attack percentage (.215), solo blocks (40), and block assists (61). Her most successful campaign came in her sophomore season as she earned NCCAA All-American and National All-Tournament honors while helping Judson to a fourth place finish at the tournament. The team captain led the team in six categories while also pushing them to a NAIA Great Lakes Sectional Championship. She ranks in seven top 10 categories for single season rankings as she is second in kills (460; 1993), block assists (112; 1993), and total blocks (150; 1993), fifth in hitting percentage (.312; 1993), sixth in solo blocks (40; 1992), seventh in service aces (56; 1993), and 10th in solo blocks (38; 1993). In six career top-10 lists, she is second in kills per game (3.39), fourth in hitting percentage (.268), seventh in kills (806) and solo blocks (78), and eighth in block assists (173) and total blocks (251). In 238 games played, she also had 783 digs and 38 assists.
Taking over the program in 1997, she is the only coach to win two CCAC Championships and be named the CCAC Coach of the Year. She is tied for the most wins in the program (111), has the second highest winning percentage (.521), and won the CCAC Coach of the Year in 1997, 1999, and 2000. She had the best year any coach has ever had in her first year winning 33 matches and winning the CCAC North Division Championship. She then repeated at CCAC North Division Champions in the 2000 season with a 20-11 record.
