Eagles Move On To Semifinals

Eagles Move On To Semifinals

Elgin, IL - On Tuesday night, the Eagles Women's Volleyball team unveiled new uniforms as they opened up their postseason run. As the #1 overall seed, JU took on the Titans from Indiana South Bend. Doing what number one seeds should do, the Eagles took care of business in straight sets: 25-9, 25-16, 25-23.

It was business as usual for the Eagles as they were dominant from start to finish. Alyssa Gerzel led the way with 10 kills, closing with a flurry. She now stands five kills away from 1,000 career kills. Emmaline Davey added seven kills, and she stands 11 kills away from the magic number of 1,000 for her career.

Both ladies will get at least one more home match to reach those marks.

Kara Wicklund also was a key contributor as she posted eight kills, while Lindsay Lawlor continued to facilitate the squad with 28 more assists.

On Thursday night, the Eagles will host either Oliver Nazarene or St. Francis in the semifinals of the CCAC tournament at 7pm.
