Big Time Match, Big Time Win For Eagles

Chicago, IL - After coming off their first loss in nearly two months, the women's volleyball team bounced back, and responded in a big way. The Eagles went on the road to a tough environment, and defeated the Cougars of St. Xavier 3 sets to none Tuesday night.

It was a very important clash in the CCAC as it pitted the current top two teams in the standings against each other. With the victory, Judson remains undefeated in conference play at 9-0, and an impressive 14-2 overall. With the win, JU now leads the CCAC by 2.5 games over their next closest competitors while also owning the tie-breakers. The Eagles have just five conference games remaining, putting them in prime position to take home the conference title.

In the match, the Eagles had a huge advantage in hit percentage .307 to .202. They also out dug SXU 48-39.

Lindsay Lawlor led the way with 34 assists, putting her ever so close to the career 2,000 assists mark. Alyssa Gerzel had 13 kills, while Emmaline Davey had 12.

After a closly contested first set that saw JU win 27-25, the Eagles exhaled, and got back to work. "This was a big win for our program, and it keeps us in line for what we want to accomplish," says head coach Alyssa Serewitz. "I am very proud of this team for the way they battled." 

This was a major victory for the Eagles as they are now that much closer to a championship. It is a statement win for conference positioning as teams head down the stretch. 

The Eagles will now get a few days off before traveling to Missouri to compete in an out of conference quad match over the weekend.
