Chavez's Three-Run Shot, Vasquez RBI Single Account for Offense Against St. Francis in Doubleheader

Joliet, Ill.    The Judson University Softball Team got their offense going early but could not get the bats going late in a 5-4 (8) loss to begin Tuesday's twin bill. Judson fell 13-0 in the nightcap.

Judson scored all of their runs in the first four innings of play in the opener. Judson started their rally in the top of the first with a pair of singles from Lexie Knowles and Sarah Herbet. With one out, Tatyana Chavez hit a three-run shot to give Judson a 3-0 advantage. In the fourth inning, Braly Wiser hit a single, then moved to third on an Amelia Jimenez double. Angelica Vasquez then singled to left field to knock in Wiser. Jimenez was the lone Eagle with a pair of hits. Knowles, Chavez, Herbert, Wiser, Vasquez, and Sweeney each had a hit for Judson. Jimenez got the start for Judson and pitched a complete game allowing three earned runs (five total) on 14 hits while striking out one and walking one.

In game two, Judson only had three hits as Chavez, Jimenez, and Autumn Johanningsmeier each had a hit for the Eagles. Judson's biggest offensive threat was the top of the second inning when the Eagles began a two-out rally with Jimenez and Johanningsmeier hitting back-to-back singles prior to JJ Mitchell grounding out to second base. Sophie Schomer pitched 3.2 innings, allowing eight earned runs on seven hits while walking five and striking out one.
