Vasquez, Schomer with Quality Starts in Doubleheader Loss to Roosevelt

Rosemont, Ill.     The Judson University's Softball Team faced Roosevelt on Wednesday in a doubleheader as part of a four-doubleheader week. Judson fell in the first contest 5-0 prior to losing 3-2 in game two. 

 

Five Eagles had hits, including Lexie Knowles, Sarah Herbert, Braly Wiser, Amelia Jimenez, and Tatyana Chavez. Only Jimenez's was of the extra-base variety. Jimenez pitched all six innings for Judson, only allowing two earned runs (five total) on eight hits while striking out three and walking two. 

 

In game two, Judson took the lead in the first inning with an RBI double from Chavez. Roosevelt countered with a run in the bottom half of the frame. Judson retook the lead with an RBI single from Autumn Johanningsmeier in the fourth inning. Roosevelt tied the game with a tally in the fifth and walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh. Judson had nine hits in the contest, including multi-hit games from Naomi Sweeney and Stephanie Hause. Sophie Schomer pitched 6+ innings, allowing only two earned runs (three total) while striking out one. 

 

Judson (6-14, 3-5 CCAC) has a day off prior to a pair of doubleheaders at home this weekend. The first coming against TIU on Friday, followed by a twin bill with St. Ambrose on Saturday.
