Judson Competes Missouri Weekend With Thrilling Five-Set Win Over D1 Maryville

St. Louis, MO     The Judson Men's Volleyball Team traveled down south to compete in their final regular season games against NCAA D1 foes Missouri S&T and Maryville University. The Eagles came out strong in the Friday match against Missouri S&T, trading leads in both sets one and two but were not able to take a set from the Miners losing 3-0 (25-19,25-21,25-13). Judson came out in the same fashion against Maryville on Saturday and secured the first two sets, only to let the following two sets slip away. The Eagles won the matchup in extra points 3-2 (25-17,25-21,16-25,15-25,18-16).

 

Against Missouri S&T, Brendan Gibbons led out of the middle with the highest Eagle hitting percentage of .333 and seven kills. Gibbons managed an additional service ace and a block assist. Trevor Kozlowski finished with six kills and two digs. Elijah Gregg racked up five kills and four digs alongside his counterpart Mason Snodgrass who had four kills and four digs. Elijah Wrobel assisted 18 kills and recorded three digs, a block assist, and a service ace. Jackson Otto recorded three digs and one assist in the match.

 

Against Maryville, Elijah Gregg was able to record a season-high personal best of 20 kills. Aside from his kills, Gregg also had 13 digs. Both Kozlowski and Snodgrass finished with 12 kills each. Kozlowski had five digs and two block assists, while Snodgrass had 19 digs, two block assists, and an assist. Gibbons contributed eight kills from the middle in addition to five block assists, four digs, and two aces. Alejandro Martinez added two kills to the Judson score and two service aces. Torrin Ley had five digs on the right side. Wrobel assisted 49 kills, recording ten digs, two kills, and four block assists, with one being a straight-down roof to secure a set one win. Libero Jackson Otto had 12 digs in the match, also contributing four assists.

 

Judson will host St. Ambrose on Tuesday in the first round of the CCAC conference tournament.
