Men's Volleyball Splits Day 1 of Eagle Classic

Elgin, IL     The Judson University Men's Volleyball Team hosted their annual Eagle Classic tournament. The Eagles first faced Olivet College for a 3-0 (25-16,25-11,25-15) win. The final game of the night was against Lawrence Tech where the Eagles were in search of a reverse sweep but fell short losing 3-2 (25-21,25-21,17-25,16-25,15-8).

 

In game one, Judson's heavy hitters were middles', Brendan Gibbons and Trevor Kozlowski. Gibbons hit nine kills for 12 attempts in addition to his one block assist, assist, and dig. Kozlowski led the team in hitting percentage hitting .615 for nine kills as well. He had two block assists, one dig, and an ace from the serving line. Elijah Gregg was next up for the Eagles getting six kills, seven digs, two assists, two solo blocks, and one block assist. Three players all finished with four kills each which were Mason Snodgrass, Alejandro Martinez, and setter Elijah Wrobel. Snodgrass also added six digs, one assist, and one service ace to the stat sheet. Martinez added five digs, an assist, and a solo block.

 

Elijah Wrobel hit a .667 for the Eagles while also managing to assist 30 kills in the game. From the servicing line, Wrobel had three aces while also recording three digs, two block assists, and one solo block. Jackson Otto finished the game in double-digit digs for Judson finishing with 12. He also had a single assist.

 

In game two, Gregg had the highest kill count finishing with 11. In addition to his kills, he had seven digs and three assists. Kozlowski recorded nine kills and two solo blocks. Snodgrass found success on the outside scoring nine points for the Eagles with them being from eight kills and one service ace. He also had ten digs. Gibbons finished with seven kills out of the middle as well as three solo blocks. Martinez added 10 digs. 

 

Wrobel was able to assist 33 kill in the game while racking up seven digs, four kills, and two solo blocks. Otto continues to lead Judson in digs finishing with 14 while also adding four assists and two service aces to his stats.

 

Judson will continue the Eagle Classic for Day 2 on Saturday for three back-to-back matches.
