Coach Jacob Wallin Earns First Collegiate Coaching Win as Eagles Split a Pair of Matches at NCCAA Invite

Palos Heights, IL     Judson Men's Volleyball Kicked off their season with two matches at the annual NCCAA Invitational. The first match of the tournament was a three-set loss to Olivet (25-16,25-17,25-19) followed by a three-set win against Maranatha Baptist (25-8,25-11,25-17).

 

In match one, Elijah Gregg led the team with six kills in addition to a pair of digs. Middle Brendan Gibbons finished with 4 kills and a dig. Oracio Matinez and Greg Geake both finished with three kills apiece. Martinez saved three balls from hitting the floor and recorded an ace from the serving line while Geake finished with one assist, one dig, a service ace, and a big solo block. Trevor Kozlowski hit from the middle scoring two points for the Eagles in addition to his pair of digs.

Elijah Wrobel orchestrated the offensive as a setter and was able to assist 16 kills in the game. Wrobel also managed five digs in his right-side position as well as a solo block. Freshman libero Jackson Otto led Judson on the defensive end recording 8 digs.

 

In match two, Elijah Gregg once again led the team in kills recording 12. In addition to his kills, Greg finished with six digs, three assists, and two aces. Gibbons followed suit by adding six kills to the stat sheet. He was able to record three digs and two aces from the serving line. Kozlowski also had six kills and one solo block. Geake and Wrobel both had four kills each. Osiel Cruz and Brody Solbrig had three kills each, and Hayden Brown recorded two kills.

Jackson Otto was the libero recording four digs and assisting three kills while Wrobel led the team in both assists with 32 and services aces with 4. He also received five balls defensively and had a successful solo block.

 

Judson continues the tournament on day two facing Carolina University at 2 and a rematch against Maranatha Baptist at 4.
