Eagles Reach Conference Finals
Crystal Lake, IL - In what was setup to be a tough test, the Judson Eagles Men's tennis team hosted Roosevelt University in the CCAC conference tournament semifinal.
The Eagles came out firing in the doubles with #3 pair Alexandre Veltkamp and Chadd Kerrigan waltzing away to a 6-2 victory, this was very quickly followed by #1 pair Cesar Otondo Villafan and Nicolas Donoso who clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win.
Going into the singles 1-0 up the Eagles took early momentum. #1 Alexandre Veltkamp started hot winning his match 6-1 6-1, this was compiled by #2 Chadd Kerrigan who also strolled to a 6-1 6-1 victory giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead in the match. Despite a closely fought first set #3 Joshua Bavich went down 7-6 6-1, this was countered sharply by #6 Cesar Otondo Villafan who clinched the match with a 6-4 6-2 win.
Other matches featured #4 Nicolas Donoso winning 7-6 1-6 7-5 and #5 Julius Fortun who was 1 set a piece at the time of clinch.
The Men's Tennis will now gear up to battle an undefeated Holy cross team in the CCAC conference tournament final on Friday 26th of April.
