Eagles Get Third Straight Conference Win

Park Forest, IL - The Eagles men's tennis team traveled to Park Forest Tennis club to play Olivet Nazarene University in their 4th conference match. The contest was poised to be tight, and that it was.

The Eagles came out hot with #1 pair Nicolas Donoso and Cesar Otondo Villafan winning 6-4. This was quickly mitigated by Olivet with #2 Joshua Bavich and Julius Fortun suffering a 6-2 defeat, leaving the point in the hands of #3 pair Alexandre Veltkamp and Chadd Kerrigan. The Eagles #3 pair accepted this challenge with authority stamping out a 7-5 win to take the first point of the match leading into singles.

However, Olivet wrestled back some momentum early in the singles with #3 Joshua Bavich falling 6-2, 6-3. This set back however only furthered fired #1 Alexandre Veltkamp who convincingly sealed his match 6-2 6-4. Despite fighting back into his match #2 Chadd Kerrigan fell agonisingly short losing 5-7 6-2 4-6 leaving the match poised for a nail-biting finish.

With the Eagles needing one more point to secure the match, it was #4 Nicolas Donoso who delivered the fatal blow, grinding out a 7-5 6-7(5) 6-3 win securing the match for the Eagles. On other courts #5 Julius Fortun was level on sets at the time of clinch.

With the victory serving as the Eagles 3rd successive victory, the Eagles Men's Tennis will shift their attention onto Saturday's contest with St. Francis looking to carry momentum into the CCAC Conference Tournament.
