Eagles Win Spring Trip Finale

Orlando, FL - The finale of 5 matches from the Mens Tennis Spring Break trip saw the Eagles face up against Cedarville University.

The Eagles came out of the gates flying in the doubles with #1 pair Cesar Otondo Villafan and Nicolas Donoso waltzing to a 6-0 win. However, with Cedarville taking the rubber at #2 doubles the fate of the doubles point was left up to #3 pair Julius Fortun and Alexandre Veltkamp who ultimately would triumph in a tumultuous 7-5 victory giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead heading into doubles.

The Eagles added to their 1-0 lead early with #3 Joshua Bavich speeding to a 6-3 6-4 win. This was compiled by #1 Alexandre Veltkamp who battled vicariously winning 6-4, 7-5. With the Eagles posting a 3-0 lead #2 Chadd Kerrigan battled hard and ultimately fought back from a 7-1 deficit in the third to win 6-2 6-7 11-9 victory handing the Eagles the victory on the day.

Despite losses at spot 4 and 5, #6 Cesar Otondo Villafan grinded a gutsy 6-2, 6-4 victory in the heat to provide the Eagles a 5-2 victory on the day.

Following this victory, Coach Dehaan commented "Proud of the boys efforts this week, hopefully they can take this momentum into next Wednesdays clash with Milwaukee School of Engineering and ultimately the rest of the season."
